Custom Campaign Report: Yahoo! allows advertisers to place micro-sites within the Yahoo! network as a way of running elite campaigns. We reported on the performance of these campaigns on weekly basis, by a highly manual process that involved pulling data from multiple sources and using a plethora of power point or excel templates. I completed a survey of the best in class of these reports, and identified the elements common to them. I also looked at comparative report pages on Google (youTube) and Facebook. I designed two or three options for presenting this information including an web based interactive slide show and a single page pdf. Based on user need to be able to email out a weekly report to clients, we choose the single pager. This is now a widely used client facing report.
Simplified Ad Booking: I designed a simple UI to show case the working of Ad Booking APIs. The UI was designed to allow a novice user to book an ad composed of a creative image, specify who the ad is targeted at and which pages the ad should appear and set price. The UI also needed to accommodate the idea that a true ad campaign is comprised of "lines", where typically each line has different targeting parameters or creatives. By using a 'line builder' paradigm, I was able to keep industry jargon out of the UI, but still keep the relevant concepts and functionality in so that the APIs could be showcased effectively.
